It's just so much fun to read aloud, and the colorful illustrations by Sara Ogilvie truly bring the characters and their adventures to life. What I love most about this book is how Julia Donaldson weaves together a captivating story with enchanting rhymes and rhythmic prose. A beautiful story for younger and older children. I am a lover of 'The Gruffalo' and 'Stickman' but I think this is my new favourite book by Julia Donaldson.

The children love it because the dog in the book is the same colour and has similar markings to my little Sheltie. This book brings so much joy to my little three-year-old and she wants me to read it to her every night for bedtime. I read this today for the first time with three year old son and he and I loved it! In this heartwarming tale, we meet Detective Dog Nell, a clever canine with a knack for solving mysteries and a love for books.

The pictures are engaging and he spent ages looking at them before I turned the page, pointing certain things out to me. It's a wonderful reminder of the treasures waiting to be discovered within the pages of a book and the special role that libraries play in our communities. 100% recommendable ❤️
