I've never read a mafia romance before, so I am not sure how this book compares to others in that sub-genre. The writing in this book really intrigued me. Just wow.

The book is about Manora and Tristan they both come from a rival mafia family. I knew I needed to read this series after Gothikana but I never imagined this. ol3nt mafia man personified, but becomes more and more tragic as his past and connection to Morana is revealed bit by bit.

The tangle that ties Morana and Tristan together is so well done, and in the last 15% of the book I probably had my eyes wide and jaw hanging open as I was glued to the pages. whew. Not necessarily a bad thing, just something to note. The chemistry between these enemies-turned-lovers is gradual, but the attraction and interest is there from the start, even if it's unwanted by both parties for much of the book.

All building up to a final climax that may convince you to throw the book, or your kindle, at a wall - but in a good way, I promise. Seriously, set aside the weekend, take the day off work, you won’t regret it! Tristan starts off the toxic, emotionally distant and v! It started off as very structured and logical but slowly blossomed into something poetic and striking.

So having finished my 3rd reread of this series I felt I needed to write a review. The last face you see before you die will be mine. This book is filled with secrets from a 20-year-old mystery that is waiting to be unleashed.

I wish we could have gotten Tristan's POV throughout, even if it would have had to be vague to preserve the mystery. in true enemies to lovers fashion. Safe to say, I am hooked.
