Tea Leaves and Reads
She drinks in new facts and is thirsty for a different, independent life, perhaps like that of a nomad. I think this is a book about the beauty of life and learning life and learning the lives of others. Some books are thrill rides, adventures, chilling or mysterious while some others give you characters who you adore and open your hearts to and never want to let go. Thanks to Tandem Collective UK for sending me this in exchange for an open & honest review.

The Other Half Of Augusta Hope reminded me of a whirlpool with two powerful stories chasing each other, getting ever closer. An extremely strong debut novel (I always feel that Debut is a sign of hope – that there will be more). These are my own honest opinions without any outside influences. An emotionally heartbreaking tale of home and belonging, and what that really means is it a place and feeling or a mixture of both?

The narrative switches between Augusta and Parfait who are both complex characters with wildly different upbringings but who, at the same time, seem to have things in common. “I quickly thought of about twenty-five things that were less exciting than the new ASDA… Lard and washing up liquid.

That’s the end of the comparison as Augusta stands on her own two feet (as does Eleanor)I liked Augusta from the off. Born one of twins, Augusta Hope is different, feels different, she is awkward and searching for something else from an early age. With thanks to Harper Collins UK for the ARC in return for an honest review. She never wants to return to her former home and seeks casual work until she is ready to move on.

I dislike suggesting authors similar to others because I feel a work of amazing literature is the writers own – in their own right. You find yourself fighting for each character, willing them on.
