Reviews

Kate

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. When a novel comes along detailing those mysterious days when Agatha Christie wrote the story of her own disappearance, you’ve got to read it.

All views are my own. This is the story of those 11 days – before and after – when Agatha disappeared and hid in a Harrogate hotel. You think you wouldn’t root for Nan from the blurb, but you do in the end. Overall, this is Nan’s story, Agatha Christie is not so much the centre of this book, but how AC and Nan are connected - it was a bombshell for me; as was the whodunitI’ve only read AC’s Murder On the Orient Express, but the writing style is very golden age whodunit style.

Is it feasible? This was a very interesting take on a well known story – those 11 days when she disappears from her marriage and her life.

You could really see where her motivation comes from and why she does what she does. I have to say that I didn't guess the storyline until very near the end, which I loved, as it makes it a real mystery and it really is a lovely tribute to Agatha Christie.

Because Agatha Christie has something Nan wants. She’s a very complex person with an interesting backstory of her own. ) are used as ‘real’ hotel guests, which is a nice touch, implying that she was inspired by these events later on.

Andrea

Her story alone (plus dramatic conclusion) about the homes for ‘wayward women’ would have worked really well without Christie’s disappearance & does detract a little to begin with. I love an Agatha Christie – especially those she appears in herself.
