These were very fun to use and the many different sizes produced all sorts of shades and marks. I love this brand. Today I was just experimenting and decided to do a portrait of the late great Tupac. And yes willow charcoal especially thin ones are extremely fragile.

The sticks are so easy to work with and the variety of sizes in the box allows u to work w different parts of the picture nicely. They can be a little messy but no more than you'd expect. But the dark rich pigment payoff is something I love this brand for and it STICKS when you want and can be erased where you want! Most of my classmates had generals brand but I had this one n my professor looked at the box it came in and she said wow that's a lot of charcoal.

Just received this item, haven't used it yet, but it came perfectly packaged with a wide range of different sizes! Bought these for my first art class and used them the whole semester and still have plenty charcoal sticks left.

They were all delivered intact, although they are very fragile. Otherwise, I love these and will order again from this company. They come in many different sizes, love the huge one for toning up the page, the super thin ones do break pretty easily.

Be gentle bcuz they're very soft and can snap if you aren't aware of your pressure. The first piece I created using this medium was chosen to be in our schools art show.
