It says in the directions to remove that piece, don’t. Would recommend the only bad part is there are problems with the app & machine being linked to your phone ! It worked incredibly until one week later I tried turning it on and it would turn on.

Truly an amazing device! Item broke at the hinge on the very first use. It’s literally so easy to use , in 3 hrs total I have 2 mason jars of oil . Just send it back and hope the next one won’t randomly go bad on you.

I was able to get customer support right away and they replaced my infuser without question. I can’t speak on longevity as I’ve just made my second infusion but the honey came out perfect and butter is already infusing. Otherwise it’s the last one I buy which is a shame because it worked wonderfully the first time I used it. I thought maybe it was an outlet issue but it wasn’t.
