making the bag easy to empty. Secondly this is heavy - especially in vacuum mode as the bag and the bag contents certainly add weight. I'm always looking for something to deal with leaves around my house as it sits in the middle of an old forest in Norfolk.

I have a Goat - which is the wheeled large leaf vacuum and a really cheap hand carried leaf vac which, is excellent despite costing less than a couple of beers and a burger. It shreds the leaves and garden waste very quickly and thoroughly. Price is quite stiff for a consumer product but it is generally better made than much of what you can buy and reflects reasonably for what you get. That said, don't let that put you off, as it is a very good product, and one that I would recommend.

I was cautious about buying one as a previous one (different make) was not very good, to the extent I gave up on it! Only issue it is a average quality, definitely 'designed in germany' but made in china. The weight isn't mad and any normal person male of female should have any issues with carrying it. I drags up just about anything and I have to be careful when using it in my garage clearing leaves that have been blown in there by the wind en masse as it would be easy to drag up something you don't want mulched.

The reason is that the attachments have to be changed in between the two tasks. But I’ll definitely keep this. Bought as a present for my brother but feeling confident it will be well received. I am very happy with previous Bosch garden machinery products in the past, and I was lucking forward to using this in the garden.

The vacuum attachment needs a bit of brute strength to push the parts together to assemble. It does however make like a bell ringing noise as the bits of hedge hit the metal suction fan. There are two main attachments, the blower, and the vacuum with collection bag.

As with previous Bosch garden machinery, this was very easy to assemble with no tools required. This promises to be a nice bit of kit. My only irritation is the fairly short power cable which, might just about cover the area of a modern estate house back garden but would be a touch and go affair.

And whilst I love the trees they are a utter sod come autumn. The machine itself is sturdy and, yes, the blower and vacuum attachments are plastic but they’re a thick, good quality plastic and not insubstantial. For clearing a whole lawn, depending on the size of the lawn, it’s not the most efficient to use this as you’re standing there waving the snout around - v. .
