. I also planted all very early in comparison to my neighbors garden- so pests found a nice treat early on and others had nice veggies through out the growing season. So much information this is the book of all book I haven’t even read the frost 150 pages i went straight through to the vegetable plant directory i can tell you ill be reading this most days when im not outside in the garden this is a must have for evryone looking to learn more about growing ur own garden vegetables and herbs thank you for this great book

This time im planning to grow all from seeds (even watermelon that Smith advises you how to do it properly! As a beginner, I haven't found anything nearly as thorough and easy to follow as this book.

This is exactly what it says the gardening bible! Tells You every little thing about every kind of vegetable and most herbs! I planted eggplants in the veggie garden before and nothing came out. This book covers every in and out of the garden, from building it, troubleshooting soil nutrients and pests, composting, how to properly harvest and store crops, overwintering your plants, a detailed profile for every vegetable profile (germination, ph, temp, soil type, all that) and more.

If you're trying to get into gardening and could only get one book, it needs to be this one. My veggie garden was ruined last spring as I moved compost bin next to the veggie garden. ! I actually went through all two books in one day!

All veggies were destroyed. And I also found out that eggplant is the best to grow in a container (im zone 6b) . And its a big big book! I was putting almost everything in there and I believe some pests made a home out of it.
