s. The Deacon hears off the failed expedition of goerge mallory and Andrew irvine. The Abominable by dans simmons, wow where to start on such a twister of storytelling & what a way to start 2022. it is only when you reach page 300 of this 728 page tale that they start the climb.
p. 3 main characters,The Deacon a British, Jean-Claude a Frenchie and our only pov character Jacob William perry a American.
so the three decided to climb mount everest 'secretly' and be the first three to reach the summit, set in 1924 were the climbing equipment & gear is far far from our advanced & modern ones. gonna give my 5 cents on this book because it does receive alot of hate, but i thought it was fantastic so here is my sort of review.
it is fiction but is has a great dash of historical facts attached to it andhalfway through it it shows that nothing is has it seems. but I will end with this,it goes from United Kingdom, Wales, Paris, Germany (The Deacon character has to be careful with that bit) and Tibet and from there to mount everest. epic of a tale. There is no Abominable snowman.
i did learn alot from this epic about climbing and Germany,The first world war and altitudes.
