You see this device need what’s called ‘DP Alt Mode’ support, which basically means you need the faster of the ‘Gen 2’ cables that can handle 10-20Gbps/100w. The setup reduced a lot of clutter on my desk and the convenience of being able to switch without having to move any cables will help you forget about the cost of the device before long.
