That being said, if some of the other reviews are right and it falls to bits then it wouldn't be good for kids to eat the innards. I bought for my son's 1st birthday. The lid is held on by cord - I don't know why but I got the impression it slid into place?

I really like this product. It's a great toy - very unusual. It seems pretty sturdy otherwise.

The rest of it is really sturdy feeling and has lovely smooth edges. The elastic top flap action of the wooden lid is very satisfying!

I'm not sure why its only suitable for 2 up? I'm betting my sons will go out of their way to detach it - chew, pull, stamp, whatever it takes. My 3 year old loves to put all the blocks away and take them out again too. He really likes it and likes taking the blocks out and shaking them.

Really nice item. I cant see the lid lasting more than 2 minutes though. Would definitely recommend!
