This book is very immersive and emotional. After reading "Nothing to Envy" by Barbara Demick- I became even more intrigued by the country of North Korea and I felt drawn to Yeonmi's story because I wanted to know more.

! Survival strategies of an ordinary (read extraordinary) North Korean in order to live. I definitely recommend this book. A must read book for this present day… much work and prayers for all of us Christians to help God with in protecting HIS kids on planet earth.

It has inspired me and taught me to appreciate what I have, but take for granted, in life. I'm often disappointed in hyped up books but this was good. Brilliant story!

We have lived the easy life for so long that to us, dictatorships and evil regimes are just shadows and rumors. I could not believe the traumas Yeonmi had to endure living in North Korea and trying to escape! Yeonmi and her family are incredible survivalists, having lived a life most of us could never fathom.
