This is a lot better looking than the standard white one you get with the Nest thermostat. so this surround does look amazing when fitted, but the parts like look like hexagons that line up for nest screw holes don't align to nest and had to remove to allow a flush fit. Looks lovely I'd say if you can drill new holes and thus do not need the Nest square metal plate, go for the POPMAS cover instead of this elago one, because the POPMAS cover is way nicer and higher quality (it has a "super-luxury feel" to it) for just a bit of a higher price.

That POPMAS plate is super high quality and full-metal and coated with super-nice _ceramic_ coating. Although the 4 lugs on the back don’t match the holes in the stat ring slightly, I had to cut the outer edge of each lug so it fitted perfectly onto the back of the stat (See pic).

Once it was mounted (easily) I was very pleased with how it looks, the wife was happy too, it matches her copper vases and stuff. The POPMAS plate would sit nicely flat on the wall if you have a drill lying around and can thus drill new holes for it. star removed as this let product down.

Initially, I actually bought the POPMAS cover also on Amazon for my Nest instead of this elago one. Love that it matched the finish of the Nest!

The wall-facing side of this plate has a recess space that accommodates the square metal plate included with the Nest, such that when the former is placed on the latter, the former would sit nicely flat on the wall, without any gaps. But if you need to use the square metal plate from Nest, then go for this cover. I have to get a cover because the previous rectangular thermostat left an imprint and a big hole in the wall that the round Nest thermostat by itself cannot cover up.

It does leave finger marks, but once it’s fitted, wipe it clean and you never touch the actual back plate, so it remains shiny and clean. The media could not be loaded.

This plate works perfect for my Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Gen. Really good replacement of the original one.
