The rubber casing is quite thin and I would imagine it can tear easily. After replacing the remote battery, fiddling with it, and repeating some incantations, the remote changed the light a few times and stopped again.

When I opened it, I found water and corroded batteries. Again, even with a little bit of rust, this light still works. We're really enjoying it! It works wonderfully.
