Reviews

I will update this review in time but I had to leave my initial thought given how awesome and pleased I am =) The centra dial is nice and big, it feels tactile, something you can grab and adjust nicely - the dial has fine controlled increments. There's really no excuse as to why you should have to use Location Data to connect to the unit -- Yes I know you use it for this reason or that reason (likely something to do with low power bluetooth connectivity). SXFi is a gimmick but it has its uses, just not really for me.

You have a surround sound effect and you can hear every detail. What I found out is that unless you start up the "creative app" and configure your spear system, the driver alone wont bring the sub to life. It may not be the BEST specs like the AE-9 but the AE-9's breakout box for XLR input is HORRIFYINGLY bad for XLR mics.

Through the App you have full control over the sound quality and your speakers and microphone as well. I am more than willing to trade ascetics for functionality, and I'm more than willing to spend the time to get the software side doing what I want and boy does the Soundblaster x4 ever deliver function. Then you need to get your ears checked.

Tech Geek

I have yet to test the other features like the SXFI or Bluetooth - I mainly bought it to replace my X-Fi Titanium for desktop usage (gaming, movies and music) and it's brilliant. If I were to upgrade to the x5 down the line though, Creative will have to have a very compelling new feature set, or they'd have to remedy most if not all my cons above The box itself isn't small, but a pleasing desktop piece if you're into that kind of thing.

Chuck

It was so easy to install, just like everything is with a MAC and Creative. 1 system and Sony MDR1AM2 headphones and the X4 sounds great with it.
